Top Performances In A Loosing Cricket Match.

Cricket is funny game. Players play to their best potential and still cannot pull of a win. The saddest scene was to see AB De Villiers leaving ground in 2015 world cup semi finals. Today we compiled a list 8 top performances in a losing match.

    8. Ricky Ponting’s Blistering 164(105 balls) against South Africa.

Ricky Ponting’s sensational innings of 164 of 105 balls and putting a total of 434/4 by any standards was the best on that day. Those were the days when T20 was still a small baby. He hit 9 sixes and 13 fours against the bowling attack of mighty South Africans. But who was to steal the show?Herschelle Gibbs with his fantastic knock of 175(111) was another jewel on the same day.South Africa have recorded a historic win and Ricky Ponting’s historic score just faded away.

    7. Sachin Tendulkar’s 143(131) Vs Australia, Sharjah 1998

Sachin tendulkar created a desert storm with his two back to back centuries in Sharjah during the 1998 series. Do you remember those two back to back sixes  by the little master again Michael Kasprowicz? The whole world was just wowed by this little master. Unfortunately for India, they lost that match but they made it to the finals thanks to the little master. Relive those moments for a minute. Watch the video below.

    6. Misbah Ul Haq , 2007 T20 world cup Finals

Pakistan’s dream to thrash India in a world cup match was so close to become reality on the finals of 2007 T20 world cup. Mighty Misbah started his rampage by hitting 3 sixes of Harbhajan Singh. He almost pulled of a win until he fell to the unknown Joginder Sharma. Relive the final over below.

    5. Lance Klusener , 1999 world Cup Semi Finals

This is one of the saddest moment in the history of SA cricket. They were so close to a historic place in the Finals and they were choked( I shouldn’t say that though). The drama, the intensity of those last few overs is now a rarely seen wonder. Lance Klusener was blazing all guns. SA needed only 9 runs of the last over. Klusener has hit 2 fours of the first two balls and they still lost the match. Watch the drama and action below.

    4. T M Dilshan 160(124 Balls) Vs India while chasing 414

No one expected a strong reply from the lankans after they had to chase a mountain. It was completely TM Dilshan show on that day. And he almost pulled off the game only to loose by 3 runs again. Relive the epic match below.

    3. Wahab Riaz’s Spell Against Australia in 2015 world cup Semi Finals

One of the most fiery spell in the 2015 world cup. Shane watson triggered the fight by humiliating Wahab Riaz when he was batting. Wahab replied with his bowling. Bouncers like rockets made watson look like a kid running away from tiger. If only the catch of Watson was not dropped, the match would have been entirely different. Don’t miss the bouncers watch them below.

    2. Lasith Malinga’s double Hatrick in Super Eights of 2007 world cup Vs SA

Sri Lanka was on the verge of loss. But Lasith Malinga had different ideas. He took 4 wickets of 4 balls and brought srilanka right back into the game. But it was too late before malinga did his wonder and unfortunately lankans have lost that match. This double hatrick is a must watch.

    1. Sachin Tendulkar’s 175(141 Balls) Vs Australia chasing 350 runs

It was wrath of SRT on Aussies on that day. I was present in the ground watching the match live. Absolutely fantastic his innings was. Only to loose the match by a meagre 3 runs. Had India won that match it would have been the most spectacular wins in the history.
